NSNP's Summer Day Camp, 2008

The Summer Day Camp Program is one of NSNP's oldest programs with neighborhood children participating in it for over 30 years. Each summer around 50 (ages 6-17) children come to NSNP for seven weeks of music, cooking, crafts, nature study, field trips, conflict resolution and drug prevention lessons, topped off by a four-day over-night camping trip. Yearly themes provide the framework to teach the children about their community and how it fits into the larger world around them. Children are exposed to new skills and ideas. They learn about their own worth and the need for cooperation. They go on enriching trips to Philadelphia's cultural and educational institutions, where they learn and visit exciting new places. For the children, most of whom live in our environment full of violence, drugs, and ugly streets, this camp provides a daily refuge of love, beauty and acceptance.

Applications are being accepted now!
